I recently fixed the review section of the vacation guide. Now you can review everything from restaurants to rental companies and anything in between.

I just updated the home page of the site to display the last 5 restaurant reviews. If you go to the home page www.obxconnection.com and scroll down as little bit, you will see a new section titled RECENT RESTAURANT REVIEWS.

If you want to review a restaurant yourself, please feel free. The link below will take you to the main restaurant page.

I might suggest a link there where people can click to add or seriously update (such as one closed) places. Example
new places:

Franco's - KDH - where Good Life Gourmet was
Thumpers - Nags Head - where Beach Rd Grill was

Closed:
Asian Bistro - Kitty
Havana Cigar Wine & Sandwich Co - Kitty
Hooters - Kitty - now Pete's Pour House
Kokomo Joe's Crabhouse - renamed Mexicali Brews
Taco Bell - it was in KDH not Kitty but closed now
Bacu2go - KDH - now Crabby Fries
Good Life Gourmet - moved to Kitty Hawk

Tim,

That is a most excellent idea and I clearly need to update the restaurant section. I'll see if I can get something working this week to allow people to suggest missing restaurants and indicate closed ones. Thanks for the input.

I was surprised to see which restaurant has the most reviews. Anyone know which one it is?

Blue Moon is my guess. We talk about it so much Melissa says she does not need to spend a dime on advertising and I can tell because I can't get a seat sometimes.

Tim I saw you mention awhile back that a new Italian Restaurant will be coming soon to Kitty Hawk near mile marker 5 on the highway.

Any updates on that or when it might open ?

I am still waiting for it to open. It will be run by the original Cosmo's owners who also own that strip center - Dune Shops. I did eat again at Cafe Franco's near the Belk store last night for the 4th time.

It's actually Big Al's in Manteo. I was just as surprised as you. It is great to hear that the Blue Moon is doing well. I know many OBC'ers love it, including me.

I think you're overstating my reaction, but I do frown on marketing campaigns on the message board. But, let's not take this thread off track. The topic is meant to be restaurant reviews.

...hey will...just wondering...how do we get a place added?...i noticed crabby fries wasn't on the list....

Tim suggested some type of form to let people suggest new places and alert me to restaurants that have closed. I'm going to start working on this tomorrow, since it is hard to manually keep up with all the changes in restaurants. I'll let you know when it's done.

Thanks Tim !! I plan on checking out Cafe Franco's when we are down there as well. Hoping that the one near MP 5 is open when we are there as well.

I didn't see Pop's Raw Bar & Restaurant listed. It's at 48967 NC Highway 12, Buxton.

Just reading this thread too. Heather left Pop's in Buxton to take over the former Finnegan's Dining Haul. It is now renamed "Hurricane Heather's."

So I am understanding that Pop's took over Finnegan's and its now Hurricane Heather's?

What about Toppers in Avon? I heard it had a new name or ownership.

Gidget's (former Toppers) just a new name is in the Food Lion shopping center in Avon.

I don't even remember seeing Toppers in that shopping center. I've been in La Fogata and several shops-Dollar, Drugstore(ish) place-scooter rental-bank-ACE, Movie theatre, Cafe 12, Food Lion, Dicks. We'll be in Buxton so probably will hit the Gingerbread House for our Za but who knows?
